Allah ﷻ is the creator and master of TIME, and He bestows His blessings on everyone and appreciates those who make the most of it. He ﷻ has sworn by it in Surah Al-Asr,
“By Time. Verily man is in loss.” (Surah Al-Asr, verse 1-2)
Allah ﷻ characterizes the people who have not made the most of their time and have not yet put their best efforts in life as the ones in loss. Therefore, we must fervently desire to change and get barakah from Allah in our time and intentions. Muraqaba is here to assist you in acquiring Muslims who are emotionally educated, God-conscious, and strive to live their best lives. This blog will inspire us to transform ourselves going forward.
The Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him) rightly said,
إِنَّمَا الأْ َعْمَالُ بِالْخَوَ اتِیمِ “Verily, actions are only (judged) by their endings.”
This Hadith, along with others, implies that deeds are judged by their intentions and their endings. The Prophet PBUH is giving us hope in case there has been a lack of intentions, the beginnings, or if we have faltered along the way. He alludes that there is still an opportunity for us until the end of the deed to correct our course, correct our mistakes, and end strong. Thus, how we conclude our actions and make the best use of our time from now on may have a significant impact.
“O you who believe! Have Taqwa of Allāh ﷻ and let every person look to what he has sent forth for tomorrow and have Taqwa of Allāh. Verily, Allāh ﷻ is All-Aware of what you do.”
Allah ﷻ mentions the awareness/concept of taqwa twice in this verse to stress the importance of considering the intentions of deeds. Mindfulness is an essential aspect of all deeds in Islam. If we have a beautiful start to an act but end away from Allah ﷻ or our best self, this will be a wrong end. It can also be recorded negatively in our book of deeds. On the other hand, if we begin a deed based on a faulty intention, but along the way, or end the deed with a changed heart and return to Allah’s forgiveness, then this deed will lead it to be accepted and get us closer to Allah. Therefore, learning how to start and end anything mindfully is an art that should be learned and mastered to lead to success.
Therefore, let us ask: Do we take time to invest in ourselves? Because Allah ﷻ mentions,
“Has the time not yet come for the believers’ hearts to be humbled at the remembrance of Allah and what has been revealed of the truth, and not be like those given the scripture before – ‘those’ who were spoiled for so long that their hearts became hardened. And many of them are still rebellious.” (Surah Hadid 57:16)
The above verse is inciting the believers to work on their selves, on their intentions, on the state of their hearts, on the remembrance of Allah ﷻ, on the truth of their lives, on the truth of the Word of Allah ﷻ and its implementation in their own lives. The parameters are clearly set in the verse for the believers. This verse speaks of transforming oneself and strengthening one’s relationship with the Qur’an. It is the most effective means of achieving transformation. By presenting its heart-centric approach, Muraqaba hopes to change people’s hearts into the finest versions of themselves—the best leaders, spouses, parents, and selves.
The heart model of Muraqaba is essential because Allah ﷻ has emphasized in multiple places in the Qur’an that we should work on our hearts and become the best version of ourselves. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, echoed this in his sayings, “Taqwa/God consciousness is in the heart.” Therefore, the question we need to ask ourselves today is, has the time not yet come for us to transform and transcend to the teachings of the religion? How can we invest in our time, ourselves, and our hearts?
Sincerely,
Wadud Hassan
